A Sandalwood Perfume
A little while back I heard someone say “Love is a verb”. It’s not just something you say, it should be evident in all that you do. I’ve personally always thought of it that way. Love is how you treat someone or how you make them feel. Rose and Sandalwood are in my opinion two of the most sensual notes used in perfumery. For this perfume I chose to use Mysore sandalwood which is the more creamy of the two major types when compared to Australian sandalwood. Love is a Verb opens with pink peppercorn, warm spices and sweet orange. But that’s where the cuteness begins to fade and this starts to become a perfume of sensuality. The heart is that of Rose and intensely narcotic indolic Indian jasmine. For this perfume I got to use one of my favorite rose materials: Rose Ultimate which is a sustainable material that uses upcycycled rose. This material is the byproduct of rose absolute where it is re-pressed and sold as an extract. I also use one of my favorite materials: orris butter, which adds a skin-soft, warm cashmere-like feeling. I use a healthy dose of Mysore sandalwood and a light amber accord to round things out. There is a note of civet* which leads this perfume into the territory of carnal. This is not a safe blind buy and is something you will either not be able to get enough of, or immediately want off your skin. Regardless of which camp you’re in, it will be one of the most unique and unforgettable scents you’ve ever encountered.
